HISTORY. Lily Claythorne was born to a fairly wealthy family in London, England. Her mother was a doctor, and her father was a well recognized lawyer. For the majority of her life, Lily grew up as an only child in the lap of luxury. When she was old enough to receive a formal education her parents sent her to a Catholic School. Most of Lily's early childhood was spent behind hypothetical bars considering she had little to no freedom. Lil didn't see the lack of normalcy in her life until she started high school at the age of thirteen. Again, her parents sent her to a private school.
At private school, she started to learn that living with parents who were so protective was not really the accepted norm. She started to rebel and branch away from them until they nearly lost all control over her. Even though she did hang out with kids who drank and partied, she never performed any life threatening things; Lily was simply making a bold statement. Eventually, her English teacher approached her and expressed how concerned she was. Lily was a bright student (top of her class), and from what her teacher had seen in class she really was a nice young woman. Lily explained that she wanted to send a message to her parents. After a while her teacher eventually taught her how to express her desire to be free in more positive ways. Lily joined the Drama Club and started doing musicals, took an interest in History, and even started writing in her spare time.
During her junior year in high school, her mother gave birth to another girl named Lisbeth. Lily never really became close with her younger sister because there was such an age gap between them, but that didn't mean she did not love her sister. For the two years left of her time at home Lily truly enjoyed having a little sister to care for. She flew threw her junior year with high grades, the lead in the school play, and a very good reputation. When senior year came around she was ready to graduate.
After high school Lily decided to move to the United States to attend college at Yale. Her impressive GPA and recommendations from her teachers secured her acceptance. Both of her parents wanted her to study at Oxford University, but Lily wanted to be away from England and her family. Yale was a bit of electric shock therapy for Lily because it was so hard, but she eventually got the hang of college life and did well for such a prestigious Ivy League school. She gained a doctorate World History with a minor in theatre arts. Immediately after college she went to New York City to become a journalist for a history magazine. Lily didn't really enjoy city life all that much so she began to look for work outside of New York.
She started teaching World History in a public school outside of the city. The job seemed to suit her well, and she thoroughly enjoyed the students even if they were a bit unruly. After all she wasn't one to talk after her high school years. Lily had a bit of trouble with one of the administrators. For the majority of her teaching career at the high school, she had been harassed by him. Some of her co workers suggested reporting it, but Lily didn't want to cost someone their job so she simply sent in her resignation. She applied for a teaching positions all over the country so she could be far away from New York, and eventually got accepted this past year to teach in Lockhart. Starting fresh in a new town is terrifying to her, and she has no idea how it will all pan out in the end.
